Information on gaining access to the iris Learning Management Platform.
Please be advised that the iris platform is owned and maintained by University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust for the sole purpose of training for individuals who work and operate within the organisation’s areas of work and responsibility. This includes temporary staff and students.
It is not an open platform for wider use outside of the scope of the Trust. If you are working for the Trust or are in the process of joining the Trust under any capacity, please read the section that best applies to you.
If you are receiving an invalid login error, it is possible you may have forgotten or mistyped your password.
You can reset your own password by going to the iris login page and selecting Forgotten Password under the login form. You will be asked to provide the email you registered on iris. New starters should typically expect this to be the email they used during the hiring process.
After providing your email, the system will send an email to your inbox. Please ensure you check your spam/junk folders as well. Once received, follow the instructions to create a new iris password.
If you are not receiving the email in either your NHS email or your personal email, we may have the wrong address registered or your NHS email was changed. You will need to fill out this form so that we can update your registered email: https://bit.ly/irisemailupdate
If you have retired and returned, we may have already updated your account with your new employee number so there will not be anything more for you to do. However, if you have lost access to your account and a password reset and email update are not working, please contact us at uhsussex.tel@nhs.net.
If you are joining the Trust as a member of staff, whether full-time or part-time or as a member of the Bank, that is payrolled by the Trust directly, your iris account will be made by the Induction team as part of your Welcome Week.
You should receive login information in the email you originally supplied during your hiring. Please ensure you check both your inbox and your spam/junk folder.
If you have not received your login information, please reach out to the Induction team at uhsussex.induction.bookings@nhs.net.
If you are joining the Trust as a Junior Doctor in either Foundation Year 1 or Year 2, your iris account will be created by the Medical Workforce team.
You should receive login information in the email you originally supplied during your onboarding. Please ensure you check both your inbox and your spam/junk folder.
If you have not received your login information, please reach out to the Medical Workforce team.
If you have been hired to work for UHSussex through one of these agencies, your account will be created in collaboration with your admin team.
If you have not received your login information, please check your spam/junk folders before liaising with your admin team who will be in touch with us as necessary.
If you have been hired through the UHSussex temporary staffing department, you will have your account created by one of the following teams:
If you have not received your credentials, please ensure you check your spam/junk folders before contacting the team that applies to your role.
If you have been insourced by any other UHSussex department, please have a manager you work with fill out this form: https://bit.ly/nonstaffirisaccount.
All BSMS Medical students that are in Year 1 to Year 5 have their accounts created through the school’s admin team.

If you are a student in other clinical areas (ie. Student Midwife, Student Nurse, Student AHP), your account will be created through your respective learner group handlers.
If you have not received your credentials, please check your spam and junk folders before contacting your respective handlers and they will liaise with us accordingly.
If you are non-clinical and on an honorary contract, you will be joining an Induction. Your iris account will be made by the Induction team as part of your Welcome Week.
You should receive login information in the email you originally supplied during your hiring. Please ensure you check both your inbox and your spam/junk folder.
If you have not received your login information, please reach out to the Induction team at uhsussex.induction.bookings@nhs.net.
If you are on a clinical honorary contract or a contractor, please have a manager you work with fill out this form: https://bit.ly/nonstaffirisaccount.
If none of the above options applies to you, then it is likely you fall into one of the below categories:
External trainees will typically have their accounts created by the course administrators in collaboration with our team. If you have not received your credentials, please check your spam/junk folders before liaising with the admins who will in turn get in touch with us accordingly.
If you are not an external trainee, then it is likely we do not have a set process. Please have your manager or otherwise person that is responsible for you while in the Trust get in touch with Yannis Vatis at ioannis.vatis@nhs.net.
